| Your Responsibilities: One selected opportunity is in solid state lighting for which we are starting up a lab venture. A radically different and new type of high-tech lighting device provides interesting applications in advanced and extremely-low-income markets. The key area of responsibility for the Lab Venture Manager will be to define and implement a business plan， to define and implement the working relation with Philips Lighting， to lead and manage the initial product management， and to define and implement a sales plan， actually creating the sales and along with a roadmap for longer-term business. The project has high visibility and requires a true entrepreneur: a person that can always explain his actions， rather than asking for advise， taking full ownership for all problems， all consequences and certainly all results. You start by yourself and do everything in the beginning， and once the business grows and it can be justified， you build your own team， becoming the operational manager for the group of people that then resembles your venture. You will remain an entrepreneur throughout， as opposed to becoming a manager. Also， you accept the fact that new ventures may either fail and dissolve or hopefully succeed and then either spin out or dissolve. Therefore your topic may change but the role will remain. It is important to note that for Philips， failure of a venture does not imply failure of the person. We value entrepreneurship and are committed to grow those who dare to take upon it - no matter the difficulties. For the growth of Philips in China， such people are crucial and excellent growth opportunities exist. Your Profile: - Technology background (university degree) in for instance Electronics， IT or Physics， others as well if combined with relevant working experience. - Proof of serious experience in running a small company or getting a new product to market as the responsible person. - Willing and capable to start all by yourself and build a team on-the-go. - Ambitious， persistent， result driven and excellent communicator: only when necessary and key points only. - Not afraid of the inherent uncertainties， but convinced that good results will take you all the way. - Based in Shanghai， periods of frequent traveling both in China and abroad may occur. - Chinese as native language， fluent in English both written and verbal. |
