Responsibilities: Provide support to merchants in tech pack reviews. Check development samples against tech packs – on fit/construction/workmanship while styling is covered by merchandisers Review sample comments and ascertain that all is clear and doable before forwarding to suppliers for sample revision Pre screen fit and submit black/gold seal to ensure all of below are approvable by Bentonville (BTV) tech team: construction, safety, measurement, fit balance, workmanship and changes which tech team has previously requested. Reject samples that are incorrect and communicate specifics clearly to suppliers so they can fix problems properly and promptly. Visit factories and work with suppliers’ pattern makers and production team to fix the technical issues of the samples Log in dates of fit sample receipt/sample checked/sample so as to track performance for effectively cost saving. Build strong relationship with BTV tech team and understand how their requirements and policy in order to guide suppliers in effective sampling Orientate new suppliers on Wal-mart requirements and technical manual Requirements Degree in textile engineering or garment manufacturing technology Minimum 8 years’ experience in garment manufacturing – sound knowledge in pattern making, garment construction and factory machinery and its operation Buying office working experience is a plus Be familiar with lab-test standard and requirement on garment construction such as skewing, seam strength, spec tolerances Know fabric characteristics well so can give the best compatible advice on pattern, seam construction, stitching, drape and garment finishes Understand garment factory production flow Possess a high level of initiative and integrity Good command of English. Conversant with PC skills |
