This person develops chassis/package designs for Sunrise Telecom‘s handheld and portable test equipment. S/he will work closely with management， marketing， and other engineers to design industry-leading handheld and portable test equipment for telecommunications， and will act as liaison between engineering and manufacturing on mechanical design issues.
S/he consults with electronic hardware engineering， marketing， production， sales， and customers to establish design concepts. S/he evaluates design ideas based on factors such as design-function relationships， serviceability， materials and methods engineering， application， budget， price， production costs， methods of production， market characteristics， and specifications， and then integrates findings and concepts into design ideas. S/he will prepare and/or coordinate preparation of working drawings from sketches and design specifications. This person will then present the design to Marketing and Engineering management and discuss needs for modification and change. S/he will prepare designs， and will work with offshore manufacturing to build models and/or mock-ups， obtain internal approvals， and shepherd the design through the development， prototype， pilot， and production processes.
Responsibilities of this position will include， but will not be limited to: design and development of new products， as well as modifications to existing products; communication with vendors and suppliers; implementing designs into production; material selection; standards compliance (UL， CE， etc.); safety reviews; using design development tools and techniques; Design for Manufacture， Assembly and Inspection; CAD and 3D Design tools.
The successful candidate will have experience in the most of the following areas: plastic injection molding; die-cast molding; electronic packaging; stamping; CNC; manufacturing processes; CAD (Pro/E preferred); geometric tolerancing; thermal analysis; design for assembly/manufacturability/quality; and experience with off-shore sourced products.
Specific requirements for this position include:
B.S.M.E. or equivalent plus 5 or more years experience in commercial/industrial product design and development.
Proficiency in 2Dand 3D CAD programs
Ability to perform engineering analysis of a product design
Specialized knowledge of handheld and portable devices， test equipment， and/or scientific instruments.
A demonstrated ability to build consensus with team members， while being open and responsive to design management. An ability to work with others as part of the product development process.
An ability to work independently with little day-to-day guidance
Design experience with injection molded plastics and die-cast metals， as well as electronic instrument design experience.
An ability to balance design ownership with realities of manufacturability and engineering.
Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to speak and understand oral English is required .
Ability to communicate easily with sketches and electronic presentation tools.
