| Position Based in Beijing, the General Manager, Sales and Operation role is to develop and manage a substantial profitable portfolio of business in China, leveraging the company’s core strengths and connections with key business partners. Initial tasks include establishing the necessary corporate vehicle, infrastructure, systems, process and human resources for the rolling out of the company’s business model while at the same time developing the client base and implementing direct response marketing programs. Responsibilities Reporting to the Regional Director, China (based in Beijing), the General Manager, Sales & Operations, China will assume full responsibility for implementing the direct marketing & telemarketing business in China. Specific responsibilities will include: § Developing and implementing the China’s strategic plan jointly with the China Regional Director and General Manager, New Business in line with achieving revenue and expense targets. § Build, manage and develop a team of professionals to deliver the business targets. Coordinating, motivating and mentoring members of the China task force to achieve business goals. § Initiating product and marketing developments to ensure that Direct obtains and is able to maintain a competitive advantage in China. § Acting as the client interface and taking overall relationship and account development responsibilities. These include developing effective day-to-day working relationships with the key stakeholders including the fronting reinsurer, database owner, the ceding partner, and various outsourced telemarketing partners to sustain a marketable competitive edge for Direct. Qualifications The successful candidate should ideally possess the following attributes: § An undergraduate degree preferably combined with an MBA or possibly a professional qualification (such as Direct Marketing Qualifications or a CPA). § Strong marketing and strategic planning skills § A proven track record in implementing Direct Marketing programs (at least 5 to 10 years Direct Marketing/Telemarketing experience. § Strong management experience in insurance and/or consumer finance, preferably in China, Hong Kong or Taiwan. § Exposure to call center operations and particularly outbound sales environment an advantage § Excellent knowledge and understanding of the market, the competition and the regulatory framework in China. § Experience in negotiating and structuring joint ventures or other arrangements with business partners. § Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) in English and Mandarin, including the ability to present a business case clearly and effectively. § Professional in appearance and general deportment, capable of projecting the appropriate image and influence in a wide range of settings, both internal and external. § Ability to lead and work with a small team of 5 to 10 people with entrepreneurial passion, and also an awareness of the dynamics in a large company. § A strong sense of business ethics that can be referenced. § Strong interpersonal skills, highly motivated, proactive, committed Compensation An attractive compensation package inclusive of an attractive base salary and performance-driven bonus will be offered to the right candidate.
