| product Manager, REPORTS TO: Director of Greater PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible for the strategy, leadership, financial (P&L) performance, marketing direction and management of a product group for the Automotive Division in support of divisional goals. This includes initiation of project, management of proposal phase, monitoring life cycles, pricing and costing strategies, cost reductions, promotion, pipeline, capacity forecast, product extensions, timing, and quality. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1 Supports Sales in phase of project initiation, phase 1 of PDP. 2 Leads the proposal development, phase 2 of PDP. - Kickoff with cross functional team - Set up proposal timeline - Review customer contract and product specification - Provide customer feasibility statement - Initiate product team journal - Review check list - Get the costing ready and prepare internal offer - Deliver status check list - Conducts phase II review - Define clear, sustainable competitive advantages 3 Leads multifunctional team and Initiates the project plan development to bring a new product to market, phase 3 of PDP. - Validate in house the business customer award - Document the project plan - Prepare program review check list - Deliver status check list 4 Manages the product life cycle and lead the continual improvement plan, phase 8 of PDP. - Put in place a continual evaluation and bring improvement, set up metrics. - Above includes: . Capacity requirements . Product improvement . Product extensions . Productivity improvement . Evaluation and take consideration of new application, market demand, customer feedback . Manage pricing strategy 5 Establishes objectives for the assigned product groups in line with Division and corporate goals. 6 Develops and implements product strategies including Product Road Map and a strong new product development pipeline in line with Division strategy and current and future market demand. 7 Determine what new products will be developed, recommend where they will be designed and manufactured and when. 8 Provide frequent and effective interaction and communication with Sales and Marketing, Engineering and the rest of the organization. Fosters communication among team. 9 Participate and take active role in industry and/or professional groups. Proactively disseminate market and industry intelligence. 10 Develops and executes product promotion and commercialization plans including: sales tools, literature, distribution, stocking, training and sample kits. 11 Performs other related duties as assigned by management. 12 Tracks progress to plan for revenue and profit. EDUCATION: Required: Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline Preferred: MBA or other related graduate degree. WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE: Required: 3+ years prior Product development experience in sales, marketing, engineering, project management. Preferred: 3+ years experience / knowledge within the global automotive supplier industry or connector industry. 3+ years exposure to / knowledge of engineering, quality, sales/marketing SKILLS: Required: Ability to translate company and division vision into objectives that are meaningful and attainable. Have marketing knowledge. Understand profitability aspects. Able to successfully champion ideas, solutions, and raise issues across the organization. Demonstrates ability to effectively lead and manage team of professionals and support staff. Capable of establishing credibility, mutual respect, and authority within the functional groups. Customer orientated sensibility. Excellent written and oral communication and active listening skills. English skills. Preferred: Strong technical background, experience in Automotive Connectors and Terminals. |
